DSX On-Premises: Divide Order Weight for Customs
Processing Settings DSX
Divide Order Weight for Customs
When the total item weight in an order doesn’t match the order weight, you may see an error when attempting to ship. This often happens when imported order data includes product weights that don’t align with your database or when weights from your scale differ from those recorded in your system.
Why This Happens
Your shipment weight is calculated by adding up all the line-item weights in an order.
If that sum is greater or less than the total order weight, the system triggers an error to prevent inaccurate customs declarations or shipping cost discrepancies.
Example:
-
Recorded order weight:
0.15 lb -
Total of item weights:
0.20 lb
→ This mismatch causes an error.
How to Fix It
To automatically resolve mismatched order weights:
-
Go to Settings → Integration → DSX Settings (or your system’s equivalent).

-
Turn on the setting:
“Divide item weight by the scale weight.”
-
Save your changes and reprocess the order.
This setting allows DSX to proportionally divide the measured order weight among all line items, ensuring customs weights align with the physical shipment.
Additional Tips
-
Double-check your product database to ensure accurate weights are stored.
-
If the mismatch persists, verify whether your integration pulls product data from multiple sources (e.g., ERP, Amazon, Shopify).
-
Contact ShipWise Support if you continue to see recurring errors.
