How to Migrate an Existing FedEx SOAP Account to FedEx's REST API
Below is a step-by-step guide to convert an existing FedEx account to use FedEx's REST API.
FedEx API Update Required
FedEx is retiring its older Web Services/SOAP connection and moving to its newer REST API. To continue using FedEx normally in ShipWise, customers with existing FedEx integrations need to update their connection before the deadline.
If your FedEx account is still connected through the older integration method, you may lose the ability to rate, ship, or perform other FedEx-related actions once FedEx fully sunsets the old API.

What you will need
Before starting, make sure you have access to the following:
- Your FedEx account information
- Access to the phone number or email tied to your FedEx account, if using standard verification
- Your FedEx invoice, if using invoice verification instead
Important note: This update only changes how ShipWise connects to FedEx. It does not change your ShipWise account setup, and it should not affect your day-to-day workflow once the reconnection is complete.
Follow the steps below to update your FedEx account connection:
Warning: If a shipment was created before migrating to the FedEx REST API,
attempts to void that shipment in ShipWise after migration will fail. The shipment can still be voided directly on FedEx.com. If you need the order(s) voided in ShipWise to reprocess it, please contact ShipWise Support or your Account Manager and provide the affected order number(s).
Important for ETD Users: If you use Electronic Trade Documents (ETD) with FedEx, you will need to reimport your letterhead and signature after updating your FedEx account to the REST API to ensure international shipments continue processing correctly. 👉 Click here to learn how
